Choose your representative

You have several elected representatives at different levels of government.

Not sure who to contact?

Your councillors

Your 3 Bitterne Park councillors represent you on Southampton City Council. The Unitary Authority is responsible for all aspects of local services and policy, including planning, transport, roads (except trunk roads and motorways), public rights of way, education, social services and libraries. Most councillors are not paid a salary, but get a basic allowance for the work they do.

Your MP

Your Southampton, Itchen MP represents you in the House of Commons. The House of Commons is responsible for making laws in the UK and for overall scrutiny of all aspects of government.

There’s an upcoming election. We’ll be adding your new representative as soon as we can after the election.

Your MEPs

Your 8 South East MEPs represent you in the European Parliament. They scrutinise proposed European laws and the budget of the European Union, and provide oversight of its other decision-making bodies.

Write to all your MEPs

Some MEPs for your region have informed us that they have divided it into areas, with one MEP dealing with constituent correspondence per area, so we only show that MEP above; you can contact the others here:

House of Lords

Lords are not elected by you, but they still get to vote in Parliament just like your MP. You may want to write to a Lord (more info).
